Frequently Asked Questions
How much should I spend on my first iron set?
A solid first set runs $300–$600 new, and quality used sets from major brands land in the same range at 40–50% off their original price. Game-improvement irons from 2–4 model years ago are the sweet spot for value.
Are used irons a safe buy?
Iron sets are one of the safest used-club purchases — grooves wear slowly for recreational play. Check grip condition (regripping costs ~$10/club), look at photos of the sole and face wear, and confirm the set composition matches the listing.
When do iron sets go on sale?
New-model announcements (typically late winter) trigger clearance on outgoing sets, and holiday windows bring bundle deals. Used prices dip in late fall when the season winds down in most of the country.
